Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam has ordered all his state agencies to prepare immediate, specific budget plans showing how they would adjust to up to 30 percent cuts in funding from the federal government. Kentucky should do the same, Auditor candidate John Kemper said.
"We have to know federal budget cuts are coming our way and we are not ready for them at all," Kemper said. "We need to stop getting surprised every time the sun comes up and prepare for the worst. We keep talking about following some of the good practices of our neighbors to the south. This should be an easy one everyone can agree on."
